چکیده

Abstract Twenty-five increment cores and tree discs were sampled for four common trees in Wadi Allaqi, an extremely arid region South-East Egypt (19 Acacia tortilis subsp. raddiana (Savi) Brenan 2 each of Balanites aegyptiaca (L.) Delile, ehrenbergiana Hayne, Tamarix nilotica (Ehrenb.) Bunge). The main aim the current study is to achieve a longer temporal perspective on growth, longevity, marginal parenchyma wood samples. growth ring boundaries acacias are differentiated by thin bands, which run around entire stem discs. Samples located along this from its upstream downstream parts; based mean distance between bands parenchyma, indicated that grew slowly some studied individuals reflected age scenarios part, while measurement interval established date 1884 or 1886. Both fast over long period time, so chiefly recent was dated back 1885. Approximate dates midstream part 1648, overall 1482. may be 1608 1715, those 1945 1975. swiftly itself, new ecosystem replaced severe habitat after dropping water level 1980s.Two probably true implying establishment It also discovered outdated scenario B. A. more line with asymptotic value indicating larger possibility future expansion.

Vanishing Knowledge of Plant Species in the Wadi Allaqi Desert Area of Egypt

The distribution and abundance of plant species are strongly linked to the physical environmental and thus to anthropogenic disturbances. Changes in desert vegetation, in particular, can have drastic impacts on human livelihoods in these areas as ecosystem services may be affected (Dubroeucq and Livenais 2004; Klintenberg et al. 2007; Käyhkö et al. 2011; Rohde and Hoffman 2012). The Wadi Allaqi...
